To celebrate World Egg Day, Australian Eggs hosted a social media campaign to crown Australia’s favourite egg dish. Celebrity Chef Adam Liaw cooked up a dozen of his favourite egg dishes from around the world and created 'how to' videos on IGTV, where viewers could vote for their favourite dish. Sunny the Egg ran a Facebook competition for the most creative egg-based recipe and shared information about egg nutrition on the Sunny Queen LinkedIn page. They also distributed a press release encouraging families to have fun in the kitchen by using eggs to prepare creative meals.

In Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Animal Agriculture Society (BAAS) and FAO Bangladesh hosted a ‘World Egg Day 2020’ webinar chaired by Suresh Chitturi. The webinar featured Dr. Vincent Guyonnet who presented on ‘The Global Egg Industry’ and Dr. Lalita Bhattacharjee who discussed the ‘Nutritional Benefits of Eggs on Human Health’. They also uploaded a Facebook livestream where BAAS members, government officials, veterinarians, consumers, and other individuals associated with the industry heard from Dr. Abdul Jabbar Sikder who discussed the egg industry. Television channels also featured World Egg Day content and provided information on the benefits of eggs and the egg industry. Various companies and organisations also organised free boiled egg distribution.

Brazil celebrated World Egg Day with a week of celebrations, which had a digital twist for 2020. They released 5 special programmes on YouTube to encourage children to consume more eggs, highlighting the nutritional value. They also hosted their first Egg Music Festival, where groups of university students competed on social media to win the prize for the best anthem or song dedicated to eggs. In addition to the digital events, ASGAV/Ovos RS also distributed their highly popular dolls and colouring books, which honoured healthcare professionals, as well as promoted eggs for health, nutrition, and immunity.

Egg Farmers of Canada launched media and social media campaigns with three celebrity chef ambassadors and a dozen bloggers sharing their favourite devilled egg recipes, encouraging Canadians to share their love for eggs on the big day. They also took the opportunity to celebrate all the amazing champions who work together to deliver fresh, high-quality food every day, and used the World Egg Day outreach as a platform to express gratitude for their work. Egg Farmers of Alberta hosted a virtual #TourDeOeuf, where the global culinary adventure shared 12 popular egg dishes from around the world. Followers were encouraged to get involved by recreating their favourite recipe, with prizes awarded to contestants who used #TourDeOeuf.

To celebrate World Egg Day in Cameroon, the Grace and Hope Association (GAHA Cameroon) launched a social media campaign on Facebook to raise awareness about the benefits of consuming eggs. They also launched an online survey to find Cameroon’s most loved egg dish.

In Beijing, China, the World Egg Day China conference took place between 9-10 October, featuring a group of speakers under the theme of “Excellent Egg Quality – Toward a Brilliant Future.” The talks were dedicated to egg scientific production, nutrition, safety, and social responsibility.

Hartmann Packaging in Germany spread the word about World Egg Day via their newsletter and their social media channels. Their canteen in Germany also served a traditional German egg dish to their employees in celebration of World Egg Day.

Baromfi Termék Tanács in Hungary hosted an online press conference for journalists to help to promote World Egg Day. Statistics were circulated online, showing that egg consumption rates for 2020 in Hungary are higher than those in 2019, and information was shared on facebook to promote the nutritional values of eggs.

In India, Srinivasa Farms celebrated World Egg Day Month, with an expansive social media campaign. They created educational content on the nutritional and sustainable credentials of the egg, while also running weekly quizzes, and their annual recipe competition which rewarded the creators of the best egg-based dishes. They also enlisted the support of celebrities and influencers to discuss the important role eggs play in the diet. A national radio campaign and live webinar also took place on World Egg Day with the purpose of promoting egg consumption. The Anand Agricultural University hosted lectures on the ‘Incredible Chicken Egg’, where poultry science professionals discussed both how chicken eggs are produced and the nutritional value of eggs. Necc Jabalpur distributed free eggs at the Elgin Hospital and shared information on social media to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of eggs. They also encouraged others to celebrate World Egg Day by taking part in an online egg cooking competition and the Moti Mahal Hotel served complementary egg salads on World Egg Day. The State Poultry Training Institute distributed boiled eggs to the trainee poultry farmers and issued World Egg Day branded face masks to the employees of the Rajasthani Animal Husbandry Department at Ajmer.

There was a strong focus on the nutritional benefits of eggs with a social media campaign on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, which was run in conjunction with Bord Bia (Irish Food Board) to celebrate World Egg Day in Ireland. This campaign was centred around recipe videos as an interesting way of highlighting the versatility and health benefits of cooking with eggs for all ages. In line with the series of ongoing marketing campaigns, the promotion was intended to target people in their twenties and thirties.

In Kenya, Kenchic Limited visited an organisation in the Mukuru slums of Nairobi, which offers learning, medical and social services to the community. They prepared an egg-y breakfast for the children and gave lessons on the benefits of eating eggs and the different ways to cook eggs.

The Latin American Egg Institute (IHL) - affiliated to the Latin American Poultry Association (ALA) - carried out a media campaign in several countries within the region to educate consumers on the benefits of eggs.

In Latvia, Balticovo hosted a range of exciting World Egg Day activities. On 8 October, they organised a Media Brunch in central Riga, where three famous chefs gave a masterclass in egg cooking. On World Egg Day an egg-branded food truck distributed scrambled eggs to residents in Riga, as well as hosting fun activities for children to participate in. After World Egg Day the egg truck headed to the organisation’s local town to share its ‘eggy’ delights.

The Instituto Nacional Avícola (INA) in Mexico carried out activities and virtual talks from September 28 to October 9. The activities and talks took place online via Zoom and their Facebook page released content based on the history of the egg and the use of eggs in Mexican cuisine.

The International Veterinary Students Association in Nepal celebrated World Egg Day with a podcast entitled 'Egg-cellence; Production to Plate'. The podcast explored the nutritional values and health benefits of eggs as well as the production and consumption of eggs.

In The Netherlands, Avined ran a social media campaign to promote World Egg Day and to spread the word about the health benefits of eggs.

New Zealand celebrated World Egg Day, as ILOVEeggs held an egg recipe competition, inviting competitors to submit their favourite egg recipe to be in with the chance of winning a year’s supply of eggs.

In Nigeria, Emerald City Day Care distributed over 1050 hard-boiled eggs to indigent children of Ijegun, a suburb community within Lagos’ mainland. The Poultry Association of Nigeria continued their World Egg Day celebration traditions by raising public awareness on egg consumption and the nutritional importance of eggs. The association made community visits to hospitals, orphanages and correction centres and launched a social media campaign to promote World Egg Day. After the success of the 2019 event, PANOG hosted an egg peeling contest in Nigeria as competitors raced against the clock to peel their eggs the fastest. Funtuna Eggs launched awareness and educational initiatives for World Egg Day by creating a media buzz with “Trivia” questionnaires on social media, offering World Egg Day prizes including recipe books, World Egg Day hats and egg colouring books for lucky participants! World Egg Day information also featured on famous Nigerian instagrammers account’s and national radio. What is more, the launch of new initiatives saw 5,000 eggs distributed amongst the community and new opportunities made available for entrepreneurship and empowerment training on egg production.

Pakistan celebrated World Egg Day with the Arid Agriculture University in Rawalpindi and the Poultry Science Club hosted a cooking competition where competitors competed to make delicious egg dishes for the chance to win a cash prize. They also hosted an awareness walk and a national seminar. The World Poultry Science Association Women's Wing celebrated World Egg Day by highlighting the roles that eggs can play in fighting COVID 19 and improving the nutritional status of the people of South Punjab, to raise awareness, they held stalls and egg cooking competitions.

In the Philippines, Batangas Egg Producers Cooperative (BEPCO) joined in with the 2020 World Egg Day celebrations with a week of promotion on Facebook to raise awareness about egg nutrition and functionality through testimonials from celebrities, chefs, and nutritionists.

In Poland, Fermy Wozniak released recipes and articles to celebrate and promote the egg as a superfood, with particular focus on targeting parents and children. World Egg Day was also celebrated by large audiences at The Poland Shiok Festival. They also teamed up with the famous Singaporean blogger/food influencer Seth Lui to further the messaging around egg recipes. A collaboration with the Polskie Dzieci Org Foundation meant that information on egg nutrition benefits and child nutrition reached the Polish education system nationwide.

Russia hosted the 26th anniversary of the International Poultry Forum in Moscow and celebrated World Egg Day with expert discussions about Russia’s egg industry.

In South Africa, The South Africa Poultry Association promoted World Egg Day via national media to spread the word about the nutritional value of the egg. They targeted dietitians in South Africa, using World Egg Day to remind them of the many nutritional benefits of eating eggs. They also ran an exciting competition to encourage dietitians to share egg-related content on social media. A national television insert went live in South Africa featuring egg-based content, including tasty recipes and a fun omelette challenge. Popular South African Social Media Influencers also took to their platforms to release World Egg Day campaigns and the country also heard interviews about World Egg Day and egg recipes live on leading radio stations. Plus, the EGGcellentFood Facebook page celebrated by organising an egg picture competition.

In Spain, the Instituto de Estudios del Huevo celebrated ‘Egg Week’ with a host of activities. Starting with a nutrition seminar discussing the role of Choline in cognitive function. They also collaborated with the Spanish Association of Agrifood Journalists and the Association of Health Informants to present a webinar to journalists entitled ‘Eggs, much more than the perfect protein’, which explored the role of eggs as a sustainable food, as well as the nutritional value of eggs. The Institute also announced the winners of the annual Gold Award, which recognises individuals or organisations in fields such as culture, gastronomy and communication related to the egg, and its Egg Research Prize for the best work by Spanish scientists on egg matters. 

British Lion Eggs made the most out of World Egg Day by celebrating eggs all week in the United Kingdom with their ‘British Egg Week’ initiative. They took to their social media platforms to inspire others to get cooking with eggs by uploading recipes daily and teaming with popular social media stars to spread the word about their scrummy egg-based recipes.

In the United States, Centre Fresh hosted an Omelette Breakfast giveaway. They cooked free breakfasts for the local community, consisting of made to order omelettes, fruit and fried egg cookies, showcasing eggs as a tasty and nutritious breakfast. They also had a fun photo opportunity with their impressive egg chair!

Companies that celebrated World Egg Day with global campaigns included DSM who launched their EggXtraordinary EggFamily - Little ‘shells’ of nutrition who shared ‘EggXiting’ facts and benefits about eggs on social media and youtube. Their online campaigns informed viewers about the egg’s major role in life and created excitement and energy around World Egg Day.
