Rabobank’s Nan-Dirk Mulder joined IEC members to discuss the ‘Global Economic Outlook for the Egg Sector’ in November 2020. Nan-Dirk provided an update on the impact COVID-19 has had on global protein markets, reviewing the volatility that egg producers have faced as a result of COVID-19 disruption. He went on to explore the short term outlook for 2021, sharing insight on the economic crisis likely to be witnessed and reviewing key developments for egg businesses to consider when optimising strategies.

October 2020’s Business Insights presentation featured Ben Dellaert, Eric Hubers, and Dr Armin Elbers who explored the importance of a proactive approach to Avian Influenza prevention. Dr Elbers shared the promising results of his latest research, which used laser technology to scare wild birds in and around free range farms, in a bid to reduce the threat of Avian Influenza to free range units. The panel also discussed how collaboration with wider stakeholders, such as the Dutch government and NGO’s has been essential to the development of a preventative strategy.
