World Egg Day

For centuries, eggs have played a major role in feeding families around the globe. They are an unbeatable package when it comes to versatility and top-quality protein at a very affordable price. And they are also an excellent source of choline, essential in memory and brain development. When you factor in convenience and terrific taste, there is just no competition.

World Egg Day was established at the IEC Vienna 1996 conference when it was decided to celebrate the nutritional power of the egg on the second Friday in October each year. Since then, members of the international egg industry have taken advantage of the promotion opportunities that this celebratory day offers, to promote the benefits of eating eggs and showcase the versatility of our wonderful product.

Join in the celebration!

World Egg Day 2021 – Friday 8 October

The promotional possibilities that World Egg Day provides are as endless as your imagination. In recent years we have seen organisations break World Records, develop promotional cookbooks and use the power of social media to highlight why eggs form such an important part of a healthy and balanced diet.

Our ambition is for every egg organisation producer and allied industry member to get involved in World Egg Day, and to support this we have developed a range of resources to help you celebrate. From logos in multiple languages, to example press releases and infographics that are free for you to use, we hope that these resources will inspire everyone to get involved.

You can find out more below about the celebrations taking place across the world this year. Please keep us informed about your celebrations so that we can help spread the good news and if you are tweeting about your celebrations make sure you include #WorldEggDay in your communications!
