For World Egg Day 2022, Australian Eggs encouraged country-wide digital engagement by asking Australian farmers to create 10-second films featuring their team members, naming as many egg dishes as possible. In addition, Australian Eggs shared a range of recipes, including low-cost options, on their digital channels, exploring the versatility and affordability of eggs. They also ran a competition to win egg-citing prizes and shared fascinating egg facts across their social media platforms.
Sunny Queen celebrated with a range of internal and external activities. They posted about the top three ways to cook eggs on social media, ran a colouring competition in a local newspaper, and hosted an egg-related quiz for their customers. Additionally, the Sunny Queen team marked the occasion with egg-centred buffet lunch and quiz.
McLean Farms celebrated World Egg Day by hosting a luncheon for their staff, where they enjoyed lots of eggy treats such as egg custard tarts, meringues, and Sunny Queen egg products! Staff also participated in a quiz and prize draw and were given egg recipes to take home and try.
In Bahrain, Out of the Box ran a World Egg Day celebration at Lulu Hypermarket. The event featured a talk from a nutritionist about the benefits of eggs and a live cooking show of quick egg dishes by a renowned chef. The public were also invited to bring along egg-based culinary creations.
The Belize Poultry Association collaborated with Country Foods and the Belize Agricultural Health Authority on World Egg Day to feed the popular Belizean egg dish, the breakfast burrito, to over 400 schoolchildren at Howard Smith Nazarene School in Benque Viejo Town.
To celebrate World Egg Day 2022, the Asociación de Avicultores (ADA) organised an ‘Egg Route’ where individuals and students could walk through a tent and learn about the benefits of the egg and the production process. The event also featured cooking demonstrations where participants learned how to make dishes such as omelettes. In addition, ADA delivered eggs to five adoption centres in Santa Cruz and La Paz and spread the message about their nutritional value.
In Botswana, Notwane Poultry celebrated World Egg Day with various activities, such as a competition to win an egg hamper and an egg-based lunch for staff. The company also gave back to the community by handing out eggs to members of the public and donating eggs to local schools.
To celebrate World Egg Day 2022, ASGAV – Associação Gaúcha de Avicultura (Poultry Farming Association of Rio Grande do Sul) and Programa Ovos RS (the Rio Grande do Sul’s Egg Program) hosted a week of activities. The program included musical events such as the 3rd Egg Music Festival-Universities, a lecture at the Salvador Sul Egg Festival and promotional activities with the distribution of a kit with gifts from Ovos RS. 10,000 eggs were also donated to several institutions, including Instituto do Câncer Infantil (Children’s Cancer Institute) and Casa do Menino Jesus de Praga (a local NGO that helps children and teens with brain and motor impairment).
In recognition of World Egg Day, Egg Farmers of Canada launched a national public relations campaign celebrating fresh, local eggs and the farmers who produce them. In support of the campaign, four well-known chef ambassadors created seasonal recipes made with locally-sourced ingredients from their respective regions to encourage everyone to get creative in the kitchen while showing their love for eggs! Egg Farmers of Canada also partnered with Hello Fresh on a meal kit collaboration which reached over 25,000 Canadians, encouraging them to celebrate World Egg Day by simply adding an egg to their next meal. Canadian politicians also took to their social media channels to celebrate the contributions of the egg farming sector in communities across the country.
To celebrate World Egg Day in Canada, Manitoba Egg Farmers hosted a competition at Hargrave St. Market to find out which vendor makes the consumer’s favourite egg dish. Members of the public were invited to the street market to taste the delicious egg-y dishes and then cast their vote on their favourite to be in for the chance of winning grocery gift cards.
In China, LyJa Media engaged with consumers through their social media channels. They organised a family egg cooking competition online, as well as conference sessions focusing on egg development and marketing.
In Colombia, FENAVI celebrated World Egg Day 2022 with a unique theatrical tour. The public transportation systems of six cities were converted into large rolling stages, showing ‘Pasajeros Hearts’ – a play, featuring artists of national stature, that sought to educate the public about the nutritional benefits of eggs, sharing traditional recipes. FENAVI also developed a range of promotional materials to spread the word about the special event, including social media infographics, teaser videos and printed posters to send to city residents.
In France, Fans d’Oeufs celebrated World Egg Day with egg cooking classes for children. The students of École Jean Jaurès in Sainte Geneviève des Bois welcomed the cooking truck “Les Enfants Cuisient” to their class, where chefs Olivier Chaput and Armand Hasanpapaj introduced them to tasty recipes! Fans d’Oeufs also ran an online World Egg Day competition where children could win egg-ceptional prizes, such as a Nintendo Switch!
The Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat (GNES), in collaboration with the Greater Accra Egg Distributors Association and Women in Poultry Value (WIPaC), celebrated World Egg Day by embarking on a float that travelled through the streets of Accra to educate the public on the nutritional value of eggs for human growth and development. Six thousand eggs were also distributed to schools, hospitals and churches across different regions within the country.
In Guatemala, Granjazul celebrated World Egg Day by opening a kiosk that served eggs in the traditional Guatemalan way. There were also lots of fun egg-related activities, such as opportunities for photographs with egg-themed props and a chance to crack open fortune eggs containing motivational messages. Flyers were handed out that featured delicious egg recipes! Additionally, Granjazul ran an informative social media campaign with multiple opportunities for followers to get involved in competitions and win egg-citing prizes!
Parsi Times in India celebrated World Egg Day by holding two ‘EGGstra Special’ competitions. The first was a recipe contest, where participants were asked to ‘EGGsplore new inventions’ and submit an original recipe featuring eggs as the main ingredient. Secondly, Parsi Times asked readers to share poems and paintings as part of their egg talent contest, and announced the winner on World Egg Day!
The Department of Animal Science, BACA and NAHEP-CAAST Project, Anand Agricultural University, jointly organised lectures on “Goodness of Chicken Egg: Nature’s Perfect Food”. 350 participants, mainly students, faculty members, poultry farmers and veterinarians, attended in person, and more than 900 joined the event online. Lectures covered topics such as production, nutrition, marketing and the goodness of the chicken egg.
Dr. Alok Khare, a veterinarian and poultry consultant in Rajasthan, celebrated World Egg Day with the farmers of the villages of Babaicha and Rasoolpura. In both places, lectures were delivered on strategies to maximise egg production and consumption, and boiled eggs were distributed to children and adults.
In Mangaluru, students from the Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM) and the Department of Hospitality Science celebrated World Egg Day with talks from guests on the importance and health benefits of eggs. Second-year students also performed a dance featuring the song ‘Ande ka Funda’, which is all about eggs! Boiled eggs were also sold on the college premises.
Trouw Nutrition celebrated World Egg Day with campaigns, seminars, egg painting, an egg cooking competition, and an egg race, all aiming to raise awareness of the egg’s nutritional benefits. Eggs were also distributed in schools, colleges, hospitals and orphanages to encourage egg consumption.
To celebrate World Egg Day in Ireland, Bord Bia teamed up with Irish athlete Sharlene Mawdsley and TV chef Daniel Lambert to showcase how eating nutritious egg-based dishes can feed into a busy and active lifestyle. The pair shared inspirational social media content about the versatility and health benefits of eggs in the lead-up to World Egg Day, encouraging their followers to #CrackOn and eat more eggs!
In collaboration with the Kenya Pig & Poultry Veterinary Association, the Kenya Veterinary Association celebrated World Egg Day at the ‘Poultry Farmers Field Day Nakuru County’, which was themed around #EggsForABetterLife. There were lectures on various topics, including poultry nutrition, animal welfare and bird vaccination. At the event, Heifer International, which is implementing Hatching Hope Kenya and TRANSFORM Projects, showcased how they promote poultry production and egg consumption.
In Latvia, Balticovo worked with the Latvian Egg Producers Association and EggPower.eu to organise a flash mob in the heart of Riga Old Town. This event attracted 150-200 participants, who held a printed carton on top of their heads, forming an egg from a bird’s-eye view, spanning across 150m2. As well as giving the participants packs of eggs as a reward, the organisers donated 30 eggs for each participant to For Fed Lativa, a food bank charity. This unique celebration used the slogan ‘Power is in Eggs!’ and highlighted the egg as a healthy, nutritious, low-impact protein.
In addition, the popular food truck made a return to Riga and Lecava, serving complimentary egg dishes while an MC spoke around the story of the egg! Balticovo also celebrated on their social platforms, engaging influencers, sharing lifestyle content and exploring cooking media.
To celebrate World Egg Day in Mauritius, Oeudor ran a social media campaign where infographics were shared, informing followers of the egg’s nutritional value. Followers were also asked to share photos of their favourite egg dishes.
Additionally, Oeudor took to the streets, where staff handed out packs of eggs to members of the public across the island. Inicia and FoodWise also collaborated to distribute meals with eggs to children and seniors at the Youth Centre in Cité Malherbes, Curepipe.
In Mexico, The Avícola National Institute (INA) celebrated World Egg Day by running a number of events alongside Avicola National High School, including a series of talks about the nutritional benefits of the egg and a Facebook giveaway competition.
The Nepal Veterinary Association and Nepal Poultry Federation celebrated World Egg Day by promoting the ‘right to protein’. They hosted a seminar for teenage schoolchildren, providing short presentations from health workers on the importance of protein and facts on protein, eggs and myths. The students also received a tasty and simple egg-based dish to try and a recipe to share with their families. This was followed by a public awareness campaign, sharing knowledge on the importance of protein and the role eggs can play in providing affordable protein, delivered to medical and health officials, government officials and NGOs during a 3-hour seminar and dinner.
For World Egg Day in the Netherlands, Poultry Expertise Centre organised an event in the poultry museum in Barneveld, all about new, innovative ways of preparing eggs! This included an expert presentation from Anneke Ammerlaan from Vision on Foods, with culinary egg dishes prepared and served by Chef Otilio Valerius. Guests also considered various design options for painting a giant egg and voted for their favourite. The celebrations continued onto a second day, where a range of creative activities took place, including; a children’s art competition, egg canvas painting, and music.
As part of New Zealand’s World Egg Day Celebrations, Egg Producers Federation NZ ran the promotion “Power your day with Eggs”, where consumers entered a free competition to win egg-citing prizes!
In Nigeria, Crescite Oak Corporate Limited celebrated World Egg Day by donating eggs to five schools in Ogun State. The team also informed students of the benefits and nutritional value of the egg, aiming to encourage every pupil to eat at least one egg per day.
Poultry farmers from the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) commemorated World Egg Day in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, with a rally. Eggs were distributed to passers-by, and members of the public were informed about the importance of eating eggs daily and investing in egg production. Farmers held flyers featuring messages such as “Eggs are linked to a reduced risk of heart disease” and “Eggs for a better life”. PAN also donated 20 crates of eggs to 600 pupils at Jos-based Obasanjo Model School, and parents and students were informed of the benefits of eggs for growth and development.
AIT Integrated Farms celebrated World Egg Day by distributing 3000 eggs to four public primary schools in the Gombe metropolis, in order to promote their nutritional and environmental benefits.
In Pakistan, the Department of Poultry Production, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, in collaboration with Roomi Poultry (Pvt.), celebrated World Egg Day 2022 by welcoming over 600 students from different schools, colleges and universities to their World Egg Day event. The day featured an ‘Egg-ceptional Health Quiz Competition”, egg awareness walk, egg dishes cooking competition, and a video which discussed the many benefits of eggs. At the event, Egg Box, a product of Roomi Poultry Pvt. Ltd. (Golden Egg Award Winner 2022), also announced that they will provide eggs to the children of Govt. Special Education Centre, Pattoki-Pakistan on a weekly basis.
The World’s Poultry Science Association (Pakistan Branch) celebrated World Egg Day in collaboration with the United States Soybean Export Council, Jadeed Group Pakistan, and SB Eggs at Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi’s ‘10th World Egg Day’ event. The event featured activities such as an egg cooking, painting and poster competition and a symposium on the benefits of eggs to human health. The event was attended by around 2,500 people from various schools and universities and the Pakistan poultry industry.
World Egg Day 2022 was also celebrated by the Pakistan Poultry Association and The World’s Poultry Science Association (Pakistan Branch), in collaboration with Noor Poultry and Menu Eggs, at Superior University Lahore. University departments of Health Sciences, Nutrition and Hotel Management participated in a cooking competition, egg day walk and seminar. Dr. Shahnawaz Minhas, Animal Feed Nutritionist, spoke about “Eggs for a Better Life”, and thereafter an interactive session with the audience was conducted.
The World Poultry Science Association Women’s Wing celebrated World Egg Day this year by hosting talks at Lahore Garrison University on how eggs can help fight malnutrition and growth stunting and feed the nation. Interactive sessions were held with the audience where myths about eggs were busted. The organisation also conducted an awareness walk designed to pay homage to the power of the egg and raise awareness of its many benefits.
At the Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, an egg cooking competition took place where students prepared 40 dishes to demonstrate the versatility of the egg. The Vice Chancellor of the university also took the opportunity to encourage students to eat eggs daily.
Students at Government Veterinary College, Hassan, were also called upon to increase their egg consumption to improve their health and immune systems. Students organised an egg quiz contest, and more than 1,000 boiled eggs were distributed to pupils and staff.
The students of Sindh Agriculture University marked World Egg Day this year by hosting a ceremony on a raft in the Arabian Sea with the objective of raising awareness of the importance of eggs in health and business. Talks were given on the health benefits of eggs, and eggs were tossed into the sea to feed marine life!
In Panama, ANAVIP celebrated World Egg Day by hosting a lunch for journalists and breakfast for preschool children. They also visited local radio stations to further spread the word about the value of eggs!
To celebrate World Egg Day in Paraguay, Nutrihuevos visited various locations with their prize wheel, which members of the public could spin to win fantastic eggy prizes! The prize wheel was accompanied by a fun dancing egg and band that encouraged people of all ages to get involved!
In the Philippines, Eggcelsior Poultry Farms Inc. participated in many egg-citing activities for World Egg Day. On social media, they launched a campaign with a range of fun graphics to spread the word about the health benefits of eggs. In retail stores, they promoted World Egg Day through special offers for their products. Additionally, they ran egg-related games and activities in elementary schools, such as egg-tossing and an egg and spoon race!
To celebrate World Egg Day, Batangas Egg Producers Multipurpose Cooperative (BEPCO) launched Bidang Egg Kids (Heroic Egg Kids) – an animation video that aims to educate children on the nutritional benefits of eggs. The resource was donated to the Philippine Department of Education as a learning material for elementary school children. It is part of the #LODIAngltlog or “Egg is Superb” campaign to fight protein malnutrition and highlight the egg as a solution to a healthier Philippines. After presenting the Philippine Layer Roadmap 365 to the public, BEPCO launched its pilot execution plan at the municipal and enterprise level on World Egg Day.
For World Egg Day 2022, Fermy Wozniak shared publications about the benefits of eggs and ran a competition on the Polish parenting portal MamaKlub where participants were asked for healthy egg-based recipe ideas. Additionally, an egg-focused podcast was launched as part of major news portal NaTemat’s podcast series ‘Health without censorship’. The podcast addressed points related to egg nutrition and the environmental, social and economic benefits of eggs.
Suflidowo celebrated World Egg Day by posting about the nutritional benefits of eggs on their Instagram page @zolteznatury. Employees also marked the day by tasting various egg dishes and trying out egg gadgets!
To mark World Egg Day in Romania, Toneli organised various activities, including a social media contest, an egg cooking competition for employees, video material with greetings from their partners, and a celebratory video that was presented in the top 14 subway stations in Bucharest.
South Africa Poultry Association (SAPA) celebrated World Egg Day this year with a range of multi-media activities, including a special insert on a national breakfast show involving an egg race and omelette challenge. There was also press coverage and a double-page feature in Heita Magazine focusing on the theme “Eggs for a better life”. On top of this, SAPA delivered a social media campaign, with top influencers sharing World Egg Day content and an online competition.
Additionally, the Association for Dietetics in South Africa (ASDA) distributed a newsletter to over 1,500 subscribers, providing information on the health benefits of eggs.
To mark World Egg Day 2022 in Spain, the Instituto de Estudios del Huevo published an article which highlighted the importance of eggs for our nutrition and environment. The eve of World Egg Day also coincided with the Institute of Egg Studies (IEH) award ceremony, where the Research Award and the 2022 Gold Award were presented. These awards recognise the commitment to research and innovation on the egg in relation to its use and consumption, nutrition, public health, and sustainability.
To celebrate World Egg Day and British Egg Week, the British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) shared delicious egg dishes across their social media platforms, including recipes from Olympic Gold Medallist Tom Daley.
St Ewe Free Range Eggs celebrated by asking their team and customers ‘how they like their eggs in the morning’; responses were posted on social media! Clarence Court Eggs also took to social media with a World Egg Day menu challenge where followers were asked to tag the company in their eggy breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
The National Farmers Union (NFU) Poultry Board also participated in World Egg Day celebrations this year by encouraging producers to get involved and “showcase the best of British poultry production”. The NFU created a suite of sharable content, including infographics on egg consumption, nutrition, and economic value, for members to post on their social media channels.
Center Fresh in the USA celebrated World Egg Day this year by making around 1,100-1,200 omelettes for the Sioux Center community.
Rose Acre Farms celebrated by promoting World Egg Day both externally to their customers across social media platforms, where they shared fun facts about how life is #BetterWithEggs, and internally to their team on their virtual message boards.
To celebrate World Egg Day 2022, Irvine’s Zimbabwe ran a social media campaign to share information on the nutritional benefits of the egg. In their posts, they encouraged the public to join in the celebrations and discuss eggs.
To mark World Egg Day 2022, ‘Eggcellent phytogenic recipes’ from the global Delacon team were published on the Phytogenius Blog.
On World Egg Day, Domino made a video celebrating the egg industry – this was shared across the social media platforms of at least 13 different countries worldwide.
To celebrate World Egg Day, DSM relaunched the ‘Super Egg Family’. This fun, multi-media campaign featured egg superheroes that aim to promote the ways in which eggs can benefit our people, planet and livelihoods. Animation videos and posts were published on their website and social media that explored the egg’s power to support multiple aspects of our lives and showcased the egg as an important and highly beneficial product. Internally, emails and posters were also distributed.
In celebration of World Egg Day, Hy-Line International shared a social media campaign highlighting recent sustainability efforts in the industry through genetics.
